Code of Conduct
How we expect students, mentors, and staff to treat each other.
Our commitment
MyFixY Academy cohorts are small, live, and collaborative — the community is part of the product. This Code of Conduct exists so every student, mentor, and staff member feels safe to show unfinished work, ask "obvious" questions, and get honest feedback.
Expected behaviour
- Be respectful in live calls, Slack, and 1:1 mentor sessions — disagree with ideas, not people.
- Give feedback that's specific and useful, not just "this is bad."
- Credit collaborators and sources — don't present someone else's work as your own.
- Show up prepared for live calls; if you can't make one, catch up on the recording.
- Keep client information (real briefs, real data used in domain sprints) confidential.
Unacceptable behaviour
The following will not be tolerated, in live sessions, Slack, or any cohort-related space:
- Harassment, discriminatory jokes or comments, or personal attacks.
- Sharing another student's personal information or unfinished work without permission.
- Submitting plagiarised or AI-generated-and-unreviewed work as your own deliverable.
- Selling access to cohort materials, recordings, or your account.
- Disruptive behaviour on live calls (spamming chat, deliberately derailing sessions).
Live sessions & community etiquette
Cameras on where possible during small-group sessions helps mentors give better feedback. Keep Slack discussion in the right channel — #general for announcements, your domain channel for deliverable feedback, #wins for celebrating client invoices (we love these).
Reporting a concern
If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, tell us — you won't be penalised for reporting in good faith. Reach a cohort lead directly in Slack, or email [email protected]. We treat reports confidentially and only share details with people who need to know to resolve it.
Enforcement
Depending on severity, we may issue a private warning, temporarily suspend cohort access, or remove a student from the cohort without refund for serious or repeated violations. Mentors and staff are held to the same standard.
Scope
This Code applies to all cohort spaces — live calls, Slack, 1:1 mentor sessions, in-person Cohort Alpha sessions, and any MyFixY-branded event, online or offline.
Contact
Report a concern: [email protected] or message a cohort lead directly.
